Accessibility

Last updated: December 3, 2025Applies to: All Ailoo users in Saudi Arabia
01

Our commitment

Ailoo is committed to making our platform accessible to everyone in Saudi Arabia, including people with disabilities. We believe transportation should be a right, not a privilege, and we design our products to be as usable as possible for all riders and drivers.

Standard

We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance across our mobile apps and website, and align with Saudi Arabia's e-Accessibility Standards issued by the Digital Government Authority.

App accessibility features

Screen reader support

  • Full VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android) compatibility across core booking flows
  • All interactive elements have descriptive accessibility labels
  • Live regions notify users of status changes (driver assigned, arriving, trip started)
  • Custom actions for common gestures

Visual accessibility

  • High-contrast mode supported on both iOS and Android
  • Minimum 4.5:1 colour contrast ratio for all text elements
  • Text size scales correctly up to 200% without loss of functionality
  • No content conveyed by colour alone — all status indicators include text labels
  • Reduced motion mode respected for animations

Motor and input accessibility

  • All interactive elements meet the 44×44pt minimum touch target size
  • Full keyboard navigation support on web
  • Switch control compatible on iOS
  • Voice input supported for addresses and destinations
  • No time-limited interactions required for core booking flow

Language and cognitive accessibility

  • Trip status communicated via multiple channels (visual, haptic, audio)
03

Physical accessibility

Wheelchair-accessible vehicles

Ailoo is working to introduce a dedicated wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV) category in Riyadh. Availability is currently limited. Riders requiring WAVs should contactaccessibility@ailoo.co to be added to our priority notification list.

Assistance animals

Drivers are required to accept riders travelling with certified assistance animals (guide dogs, hearing dogs, service dogs). Refusal to accept an assistance animal is a violation of our Driver Agreement and may result in deactivation.

Deaf and hard of hearing riders

  • All trip communications are available as in-app text notifications
  • Drivers are shown a "deaf or hard of hearing" indicator when a rider has enabled it
  • No audio-only interactions are required to complete a booking

Blind and low-vision riders

  • Driver arrival alerts sent as both push notification and haptic feedback
  • Vehicle description (make, model, colour, plate) included in all match notifications
  • Support for asking the driver to announce their arrival
04

Standards we follow

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines — the international standard for web and app accessibility
  • Saudi e-Accessibility Standards: Digital Government Authority guidelines for digital services
  • ATAG 2.0: Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines — ensuring our internal tools produce accessible content
  • Apple Human Interface Guidelines (Accessibility): iOS-specific accessibility design patterns
  • Material Design Accessibility: Android accessibility best practices
05

Known issues

We are aware of the following accessibility issues and are actively working to resolve them:

  • Map view on the home screen has limited screen reader support for driver positions — a text-based alternative is available
  • The daily commute schedule picker has reduced keyboard navigation support on web — fix targeted for Q2 2026
  • Some in-app promotional banners lack descriptive alt text — being addressed in the next release

If you encounter an accessibility barrier not listed here, please report it using the contact details below.
